Birds have long since been associated with the holidays from turkeys being the unfortunate main course to the infamous Twelve Days of Christmas where one gives his true love a slew of birds…seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.
